
The organization of the ITMF, International Textile Manufacturers Federation, disclosed the first version of the programming of its annual convention, which runs from October 17 to 19, 2010, in São Paulo. "Compliance, Sustainability and Profitability" is the theme that will direct the conference, where leaders will discuss the world's textiles sector strategies for the next twelve months, five and ten years in all links of the textile and garment chain.
As speakers/mediators, names like Haroldo Cunha, president of ABRAPA, Richard Ward, chief superintendent of Petroquímica Suape, Marcos de Marchi, president of Rhodia, Guido Mantega, Finance Minister, Henrique Meirelles, Central Bank President, Luciano Coutinho President of BNDES, Marcos Gouvea de Souza from GMD Brazil and Alessandro Teixeira, president of APEX-Brazil, among others, are expected.
International representatives will also give lectures, such as Dan Cameron, general manager of Terranova Ranch (USA), Terry Townsend, Executive Director of the ICAC (USA), David Bayliss, Director of Advansa (Turkey), John Hawksworth, head of PWC (UK), Achim Steiner, Executive Director of the Environment Program of the United Nations (Kenya), John Cheh, CEO of Esquel (Hong Kong, China), John Easton, Manager of DyStar Ecological Solutions (UK), among others.
Also invited, and should RSVP, are some authorities, such as Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of Brazil, Alberto Goldman, Governor of the State of São Paulo, Gilberto Kassab, Mayor of São Paulo, Robson Braga de Andrade, President of CNI, Miguel Jorge, Minister of Development, Celso Amorim, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Benjamin Steinbruch, president of FIESP.
"Aligning the global speech industry and making this important segment of the global economy a reference to environmental and social care, aimed at sustainable and efficient development for the coming professionals who will drive the economy looms, combining it with ethics and profits are the main reasons why we will meet", said Aguinaldo Diniz Filho, president of ABIT, who will be mediating the discussions of the meeting.
Brazil is the sixth largest textile producer in the world, having billed, in 2009, US$ 50 billion. There are 30,000 companies representing 17.5% of the GDP in manufacturing industry and about 3.5% of total Brazilian GDP. "We have a thriving industry and skilled workforce, which has invested heavily in developing its production and design. Brazil is a country that has, in the textile industry, a strong ally for economic growth", added Diniz Filho.
The Brazilian Association of Textile and Clothing (ABIT) is co-responsible for conducting and coordinating the event, along with the board of the ITMF. The meeting also has a partnership with Texbrasil, Export Program of the Brazilian Fashion Industry, developed by ABIT in partnership with the Brazilian Export Promotion and Investment Agency (Apex-Brazil).
